How do I care for my Bille Wes quilt jacket?
Each Bille Wes garment is crafted from vintage and reclaimed textiles, many of which have already lived long and varied lives. The fabrics carry age, texture, and history — part of what makes every piece one of a kind. With gentle care, they’ll continue to evolve beautifully over time.
To care for your piece:
• Wash sparingly. Spot clean when possible. If needed, wash gently by hand or on a cold, delicate cycle using a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
• Avoid heat. Do not tumble dry. Instead, reshape and lay flat or hang to dry in the shade.
• Handle with care. Vintage fabrics may be more delicate. Avoid wringing, harsh scrubbing, or bleach.
• Store thoughtfully. Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve color and fabric strength.
Your garment is made from materials that have already had a full life. Over time, the fabric may soften, fade, or fray slightly — this natural wear is part of its story and adds to its individuality.
Side Note:
If you love the look of aged quilts and visible wear, you can encourage that process by wearing your piece often and washing it more aggressively. Be mindful that this may lead to fading, thinning, or areas that need patching — signs of a life well lived and a garment that’s truly yours.
